DownStreet Art is a public art project designed to revitalize downtown North Adams. By harnessing existing art organizations and events and transforming vacant and open spaces into art destinations, DownStreet Art defines North Adams as a cultural haven, driving tourists and community members. Its goal is to help the economic development of North Adams and encourage the dialogue between our community and the arts.
Strong Towns is a non-profit, non-partisan organization that helps America's towns achieve financial strength and resiliency. Strong Towns promotes a complete understanding of the costs that are associated with our communities' methods of growth and advocates to address those costs via productive changes in our pattern of development.
The Northern Berkshire Community Coalition (NBCC) works to improve the quality of life of Northern Berkshire by organizing, supporting, and empowering the community. The Coalition works to achieve its mission by providing a public place for the community; mobilizing for change to reduce teenage drinking; building stronger neighborhoods; and promoting youth development.
The Street Plans Collaborative is an urban planning, design, and research-advocacy firm whose publications include The Smart Growth Manual, ranked by Planetizen as one of the 10 best urban planning, design, and development books published in 2010; the Open Streets website and guide, which presents case studies, best practices, and insight into North America's fast growing open streets movement; and Tactical Urbanism, named by Planetizen as one of the top planning trends of 2011-2012.
