The former commercial core of North Adams was largely turned over to parking after "urban renewal" projects demolished large portions of downtown in the 1960's and 70's.

This location is the gateway into downtown North Adams if you're coming from Williamstown. At this intersection, travelers do one of three things:

Eagle Street is the only commercial block in North Adams that escaped "urban renewal" with both sides of the street intact.
